THE Mayor of Brynmawr Councillor Nigel Boyd last week presented the Special Care Baby Unit at Nevill Hall Hospital, Abergavenny with a cheque for £1,283 following a successful Mayor’s Appeal.

The neonatal unit was chosen as the recipient of the appeal as it is a department close to the hearts of both Councillor Boyd and his wife, Councillor Mrs Julie Boyd, whose four children were born prematurely and required the specialist medical attention provided by the department.

Thanks to their help all four children are now adults living successful lives.

The cheque was presented to Dr Kay Milson, Lauren Bowley and Theresa Segelov.

Councillor Boyd and family would like to thank all those that donated prizes for raffles, purchased raffle tickets and gave generous donations.

The mayor and his wife would also like to extend their appreciation to all those at SCBU for their hard work and dedication.
