A man has admitted causing the death of two young children in a crash on the M4.

Gracie-Ann Lucas, aged four and her brother Jayden-Lee, three, died following the crash on Saturday February 5.

Martin Newman, 41, of Croeserw, Neath Port Talbot, appeared in Cardiff Crown Court on Monday February 21.

He pleaded guilty to two counts of causing death by dangerous driving, and also pleaded guilty to causing serious injury by dangerous driving to another passenger in the car, the children’s mother Rhiannon Lucas.

Newman was remanded in custody and will be sentenced on April 8.

The Lucas family had been returning from a birthday party on February 5 when the car and a Ford Transit van crashed at about 1.45pm on the Westbound carriageway between junctions 28 and 29.

A GoFundMe page set up by the family’s Abergavenny relatives has since been set up to help support the Lucas family and raise money for the siblings’ funeral and has so far raised more than £15,000.
