Abergavenny will have its own mini-food and drink pop-up when the National Eisteddfod comes to town this month.
The Eistedd-Pod will be based in the courtyard of Homes of Elegance and will give visitors a chance to relax with great food, scheduled live music and a drink.
Abergavenny caterer Vicky Crabtree came up with the idea and will be serving delicious homemade street food using locally sourced produce.
Homes of Elegance are supplying the venue and seating, the Station Hotel will be serving drinks.
Vicky and her husband Neil, who run Crofters, a quirky street food trailer, have brought in young local musicians at various times throughout the week to entertain visitors at the Eistedd-pod.
Mum-of-two Vicky, said, “With the Eisteddfod here in our lovely town, it seemed like an ideal way of bringing visitors and locals together to celebrate this unique event.
“People can soak up the music, have a bite to eat and wash it down with a glass of beer, wine or prosecco.
“It is an exciting venture involving local businesses working together to welcome visitors to the Eisteddfod.”
Crofters will be serving up tasty treats such as Shawarma Welsh lamb flat breads, Braised Beef Cheeks with mac-n-cheese muffin and corn bread with crispy bacon.
Mehmet Muftuoglu from The Station Hotel added, “I’m thrilled to be a part of the Eistedd-Pod. It gives us an opportunity to showcase some of the fantastic real ales we sell and I’m sure it will be a wonderful addition to the fantastic atmosphere the Eisteddfod is bringing to our town.”
Steve Davis from Homes of Elegance said, “It’s a great way to welcome the Eisteddfod and add to the atmosphere throughout the town for many visitors who have not been here before. We want to showcase what a fantastic destination Abergavenny is with a truly unique, quality offering.”
The Eistedd-Pod in Mill Street will be open from Saturday July 30 until Saturday August 6 from 9am each day.
