A doggy Halloween costume contest and parade will be taking place on Sunday, October 29 at Boodle Bakery.

Awards will be given for the best dressed puppy (12 months and under), Golden Oldie, Silliest/funniest costume, double trouble (dog and human combo costume), scariest costume, cutest costume, best trick and small spooks (dog and child combo costume.)

Owner of Boodle Bakery, Jess Perry, said: “we are very excited about making a fun filled day for all of the dogs, and of course the humans too.

“The idea just occurred to me while I was baking one day. I was thinking about what Halloween treats to make this year and I thought how amazing it would be if dogs could go trick or treating too.

“It was like a light bulb moment to do a costume parade.”

Dogs will be signed up for the costume contest before going on a group walk through Abergavenny town Centre and then heading back to the bakery in Cibi Walk where the costume catwalk will take place.

“The shop will be open for delicious Halloween treats,” Jess added.

“Hope Rescue are hopefully joining us with some of their volunteers and dogs to see if we can help them raise money for the much needed care of their beautiful dogs there.”

You can sign up after 12pm for £1 giving you the chance to win a first, second or third place ribbon in each category.
