The residents of Llandenny and surrounding areas pulled out all of the stops when they hosted ‘The Daisy Ball’ at Cwrt Bleddyn Hotel near Usk.

Around 150 people attended the event named in honour of 12-year-old Daisy Wyatt who suffers from Ewing’s bone cancer, and more than £12,000 was raised in aid of ‘The Daisy Fund’ and the charity ‘Latch’.

The money raised will be used to support Daisy whilst she is undergoing proton treatment in Jacksonville next month.

Daisy and her brother Evan attended the event and were overwhelmed by the support and generosity of all those who contributed towards the evening.

The event was supported by local businesses including Monnow Eyecare, Pia Braille, Smart Solutions and The Fencing Partnership Ltd, together with many local individuals.

During the evening, handmade daisies designed by Llandenny teenager Millie Wootton were sold as raffle tickets for no fewer than 15 prizes, the first prize being a handmade Atelier Gilmar necklace.

The organisers would like to thank all of those who helped to make it such a successful and enjoyable event.

Everyone’s thoughts will be with Daisy and her family in January.
