LLANARTH cricket club celebrated its 60th anniversary with a special commemorative dinner last weekend.
Players past and present joined with supporters of the club at the Three Salmons Hotel Usk to mark the occasion.
Club President Clive Delve described how the club had come into being in 1950 following the urgings of Father Dominic, the then newly appointed Head of the school run by the Catholic Order at Llanarth.
The president went on to recall many of the achievements and the progress made by the club over the years.
It was particularly pleasing that a number of founder members were able to be present including Paddy Nash and Adrian and Jan Francis.
The ground is one of the prettiest in South Wales and the facilities are the envy of many clubs who have far larger communities to support them and play at a higher level.
Guest speaker was Steve James the former Glamorgan opener and now respected journalist with the Sunday Telegraph.
James engaged in an entertaining and informative question and answer session freely giving his forthright views on many cricketing topics before presenting the trophies at the end of the evening.
