ALTHOUGH going down 1-2 at half-time to Cwmffrwdoer in the the first round of the Benevolent Cup, the Mardy bounced back on a mission in the second-half to score five goals and win the tie 6-2.
Joe Hooton was the only Mardy player to score in both the first and second-half, and Gavin Morris (2), Shane Higginson and James Copeland all chipped in during the last 45 minutes.
Llanfoist were beaten 1-3 at home by Premier Division top dogs Pontypool Town.
David Barry scored the consolation goal for Llanfoist.
Gilwern and District's visit to the 'Island' finished up all square on 4-4 with Gilwern's Adam Carrington putting his side level when he scored with the last kick of the match.

Blaenavon Blues secured a 1-3 away win over local rivals Fairfield Utd.
Jamie Brankley, Ryan Keen and Leigh Carrick all scored for the Blues, whose man of the match was Darren Pugh.
Govilon slumped to a disappointing 4-0 away defeat at Green Hill Road to Panteg, where to make matters worse, Ashley Wilkins scored an own goal.

In Division Two Clydach 'B's' match against Panteg 'B' ended in a 3-3 draw.
Paul Travis scored two for Clydach and Nathan Wall bagged one. Man of the match for CLydach was Ben Ward.
Despite leading 1-0 at half-time through a Trevethin own goal, Llanarth 'B's' away fixture ended 1-3 in favour of the hosts.
