SKIRRID Fawr was the unlikely inspiration for an acclaimed fashion designer’s first home-wares collection featuring three special candles for Christmas.
Elliott James Frieze, whose creations have been ‘catwalked’ by top models Amber Le Bon and
Jaquetta Wheeler, spent the summer living under Abergavenny’s famous holy mountain.
And during his stay he witnessed the June 30 alignment of Venus and Jupiter for the first time in 2,000 years.
He described it as a magic moment which prompted him to expand his popular Frieze fashion brand into premium items for the home - and in particular the trio of fragrant candles representing gold, frankincense and myrhh.
The London Fashion Week designer said of his Three Kings ensemble, “The combination of light and precious oils from India’s northern terrain come together in the form of the candle and packaging for the limited edition project.
“Silver foil is embossed on black royal papyrus and frosted black glass, a lustrous Jupiter in the winter midnight sky.
“The precious oils and the high quality of soy wax have been selected for their masculine fragrance that continues to consume the basilica of the Church of Nativity in Bethlehem to this day.”
The hat-trick of candles can be found at Carpaninis in Abergavenny.
