Time to Change Wales is the first national campaign to end the stigma and discrimination faced by people with mental health problems.
The organisation began its work in February 2012 and it is now into its second phase which again is being funded by the Welsh Government and Comic Relief.
The organisation is supported by three leading mental health charities in Wales namely Gofal, Hafal and Mind Cymru. Through its work it encourages its volunteers known as Champions, to speak up and speak out about their own journey thorough mental illness and how they were affected by stigma and discrimination.
At present there are more than 150 active champions who speak at organised events, blog and work with projects to share the message.
Over the campaign Time to Change Wales has worked with many large businesses and public organisations including Monmouthshire County Council to sign the Organisational Pledge - a public declaration that an organisation wants to step up to tackle mental health stigma and discrimination.
On June 23 a local Champion Beverley Jones from Awaken Coaching Ltd, celebrated her 100th talk for the campaign at the Beaufort Hotel Raglan.
The event was hosted by Time to Change Wales and Nick Ramsay AM with special guest Sue Stone, aka Channel 4’s Secret Millionaire travelling up from Bournemouth to help celebrate the occasion.
Since carrying out the talks Beverley has spoken across a wide range of events including the Monmouthshire County Council pledge signing event, the NHS Confederation Conference, The Welsh Water Board Conference, care homes, schools and universities to name but a few.
Beverley was thrilled to hold her 100th talk in her home village of Raglan where she was joined by nearly fifty family, friends and members of the public.
The organisation is always looking for more champions as well as organisations to sign the pledge For further information visit timetochangewales.org.uk/en/
