Senedd Member for Monmouth, Nick Ramsay is calling on the Welsh Government to provide greater clarity on the roll-out of the Covid-19 Pfizer vaccine across Wales.
The MS has been contacted by numerous constituents in vulnerable age groups who have been unable to find out any details about when they are due to receive the vaccine.
Speaking today, Mr Ramsay said: “The roll-out of the new Covid-19 Pfizer vaccine is clearly a huge logistical task and it’s understandable that the Welsh Government and local health boards need to prioritise groups who will receive the first wave of the vaccine.
’’NHS workers were understandably vaccinated first and I’ve long been calling for care home residents to be protected.
“However, with cases of the new variant of the virus on the increase across Wales, I’ve been contacted by many concerned constituents eager to know when they can at least expect to receive the vaccine.
“Many constituents are in the dark as to when they will receive protection. One constituent in his 80s is due to go into hospital for an operation shortly and would understandably like to know if he will be prioritised for vaccination.
“It’s important that people are reassured and receive more information so I am calling on the Welsh Government to provide greater clarity as to how and when the vaccination programme is going to proceed and how people will be prioritised, whether it be alphabetically or otherwise.”
