Govilon 9
Trethomas 2
GOVILON emphatically returned to winning ways after their defeat to Tranch last week with a 9-2 victory over Trethomas Bluebirds.
The comprehensive win included a five goal burst from Matthew Stephens.
Govilon were ahead after 90 seconds when Matthew started the rout after slotting home from the narrowest of angles.
The homeside didn't have to wait long to double their advantage when Stephens again get on the scoresheet by latching on to Dean Morgan's cross to find the bottom corner.
Morgan himself looked certain to score on the 15 minute mark when a last ditch tackle from Trethomas' Mark Chamberlain prevented him scoring.
Morgan was denied again when meeting Stephens' pass on the volley and only a fine Kidley fingertip save stopped a third Govilon goal.
Morgan's perseverance paid off after the half hour mark when he chipped ahead and beat his man before firing past Kidley for a 3-0 lead.
A minute later Stephens completed his hat trick when he tapped in from Dean Morgan's right wing cross.
The Stephens and Morgan combination continued to pay dividends for Govilon and the pair combined once more for their fifth goal when Morgan side footed home Stephens' pass.
With five minutes of the first half remaining Trethomas were awarded a penalty which Owain Gulliford hit against the post and ricocheted into the arms of Morrison in the Govilon goal.
Seconds later Govilon's Richard McCarthy set off on a run from his own half, beating one defender on the edge of the box, before unselfishly squaring the ball to Matthew Stephens for his fourth goal and Govilon's sixth.
Facing a seemingly hopeless task Trethomas started the second half brightly with Gulliford immediately testing Morrison again before they finally pulled a goal back five minutes later.
Midway into the half Govilon struck again with Dean Morgan again feeding Matthew Stephens who had a simple tap in for his fifth goal.
Trethomas battled back and scored again to make the score 7-2 after which Dean Morgan setup Richard McCarthy as Govilon scored with another close range effort.
Their ninth goal arrived with minutes remaining as Craig Thomas powered into the Trethomas area let fly.
