Lucas Cwmbran - 2

GWENT County Division Two kings of the hills Govilon returned to winning ways with a rout of bottom placed Lucas Cwmbran.

However they suffered an early set-back when a weak shot deceived Morrison in Govilon's goal to give the visitors an early boost.

Dean Morgan brought Govilon level after 10 minutes, and increased his team's lead on the half hour only for Cwmbran to draw level when a header from a corner found the corner of the net via the boot of Morrison.

It was a goalkeeper error at the other end which saw Govilon regain the lead when Haycock allowed Robert Frost's effort to slip through his hands.

Govilon went further ahead just after the re-start when Jamie Laurent's corner kick was flicked forwards by Craig Thomas running from deep, and Matthew Ham squeezed the ball over the line.

Dean Morgan completed his hat-trick two minutes later, firing home after Haycock was stranded, and added his fourth of the match when he dispossessed Haycock on the edge of the box.

Cwmbran's Dan Parfitt produced a thumping shot towards the top corner which brought the save of the match from Morrison who leapt to his right to divert a certain goal.

Govilon's Jamie Laurent emulated Parfitt moments later, but Haycock could not match Morrison's acrobatics as Govilon stretched their lead to 7-2.

Moments later substitute Lewis Meadows set up Richard McCarthy who made no mistake in finding the net.

Meadows had a hand in Govilon's final goal and it was his persistence in the box which allowed Matthew Ham to grab his second of the game. Next saturday Govilon are away to Newport Corinthians (2.00pm).
