GOVILON stormed to the Division One title on Saturday after thrashing the Blaenavon Blues in a rampaging 5-0 rout

Craig Phillips opened the scoring after ten minutes with a thunderbolt from 30 yards out. Jamie Wilkins added another, stealing up on a corner kick to head home in trademark style, before Dwayne Lewis scored a poacher's goal to give the game a 3-0 interval score-line.

After the break, Jamie Wilkins, who was set free by Danny Marfell's defence splitting pass blasted home another, and Matthew Heritage rounded off the scoring when he side footed past the goalkeeper.

Man of the match for Govilon was Matthew Heritage.

Man of the match for Blaenavon Blues was Grant Evans.

Also on Saturday, the Clydach Wasps took Panteg to the cleaners for a king's ransom of 1-9.

Man of the match Adam Carrington had a field day and scored five goals for the Wasps, leaving Aaron Powell to bag a brace and James Hapwood and Mark Prosser to fight for the leftovers.

The final game to be played this season in the Gwent Central Premier Division, saw Pandy just miss out to Pontypool Town who beat them 2-1.

Played at Albion road, neither team scored in the first-half, Following the interval, Ponty's Richard Wakeling opened his team's account with a goal in the 60th minute.

12 minutes later Pandy bounced back through Kirk Morgan to go level but it wasn't enough, as three minutes later Richard Edwards won the game for Ponty with a spectacular left foot volley.

In midweek Prescoed beat Pandy 'B' 2-1.

Pandy 'B' had David Lambert sent off after 15 minutes.

On the same night Clydach 'B' gave Mardy a kicking they won't forget in a hurry after destroying them to the tune of 16-2.

Ben Ward led the charge with a thunderous five goals, closely followed by Matthew Edwards and Nathan Wall who picked up a hat-trick and a brace respectively. Colin Evans, Nathan Ford, Evan Hall, Gregg Lewis, Phil Odowda and Luke Welsh all chipped in with one apiece.

Mardy's goals came via Lewis Welch and Nick Dash.

Usk Town 'B' visited Blaenavon 'B' and went 0-2 ahead after 20 minutes through Marc Cordell plus an own goal.

Matthew Cox scored for Blaenavon to make it 1-2 at the interval, and the only goal in the second-half came from Blaenavon's Chris Jones to give his team a share of the points.

On Saturday Mardy 'B' failed to raise a side to play neighbours Pandy 'B', so all eyes were on Clydach 'B's' match against Prescoed.

Going into their last match of the season with a six point lead over Clydach who needed to win their last two games to be in with a shot at the title, the game was very much a do or die affair.

No goals were scored in a tense and cagey first-half, but after the interval Prescoed's skipper Gareth Wesson opened his team's account in the 70th minute with a free-kick from 25 yards out.

Ten minutes later Clydach 'B's' Tom Morgan replied to make it even stevens and that's the way it stayed at the end of play as the title went to Prescoed, and Clydach 'B' with one more game to play take the runners-up spot.
