THE weekend had a golden glow for first Abergavenny Brownies as they took part in a games and activities adventure.

The brownies celebrated Gwent Gold Week trying out many activities and playing new games and several were enrolled during the evening.

Abergavenny's Mayor, councillor John Prosser enjoyed the celebrations and watched the enrolment of new members.

"I was delighted to attend and support the initiative. I was in the scouts and guides many years ago and I found it enlightening. Youngsters gain skills and confidence as they grow up. To see the brownies busy working away and making their goldfish and decorations and using their initiative and communicating with each other was a delight to behold and I wish a lot more youngsters would get involved in the brownies and guides movements as they give the children great skills for later on in life."
