GILWERN and District have leap-frogged to the top of the Gwent Central Premier Division following a 4-1 home win over Llanarth.
Kieran Shelvin gave Gilwern and District a 1-0 half-time lead, before bagging his brace in the second to make it 3-0 after goalkeeper Stewart Bees had scored Gilwern's second.
Man of the match Adam Carrington chipped in with Gilwern's fourth goal scored from a 20 yard volley in the last minute of the match.
Luke Williams scored for Llanarth from the penalty spot.
Man of the match for Llanarth was Steven Morgan.
Llanfoist slumped to a 3-1 defeat at home to Pontypool Town. Man of the match Rhys Watkins scored for Llanfoist.
In midweek Llanfoist were also undone to the tune of 4-0 at home to neighbours Gilwern and District.
The Gilwern strikes came from Kieran Shelvin, Chris Perry and Tim Skarratts and Llanfoist chipped in with an own goal from Steve Thomas.
Man of the match for Gilwern and District was Mark Prosser and man of the match for Llanfoist
was Luke Ewers.
Also in midweek Pandy powered to a 0-5 win over Usk Town. Kirk Morgan scored a brace, including one from the penalty spot, substitute Craig Bennett and Leyton Davies chipped in with one apiece, and Mike Smith scored one from the penalty spot.
Man of the match for Usk Town was Lewis Thomas and man of the match for Pandy was Steven Wedlock.
An unbeaten Clydach Wasps lead Division One following their midweek 9-1 annihilation of Cwmffrwdoer and Saturday's narrow 1-0 home win over Blaenavon Blues.
Goals in the Cwmffrwdoer game came fast and furious from man of the match Scott Ambler (4), James Powell (3), Craig Evans (1) and Robert McKenzie (1).
A single and spectacular goal in the 89th minute by Scott Ambler from a cross by sub Stephen Davies gave Clydach Wasps a 1-0 win over visitors Blaenavon Blues.
The Wasps have now won six out of six.
After drawing 4-4 away midweek to Sebastopol thanks to a Lewis Meadows hat-trick and a solo strike by man of the match Carl Waldbyof, Govilon went on to win 1-2 away to Fairfield United on Saturday as Meadows netted again alongside Anthony Phillips.
In midweek Goytre had a narrow 1-0 win over PILCS after Nathan Evans tapped in during the 15th minute from a Gareth Edmonds cross.
On Saturday the Plough Rd outfit stormed to a 8-1 victory over New Inn following a Gareth Edmunds hat-trick, a brace by James Moss and a strike apiece by man of the match Paul Williams, Craig Cooper and Mike Walton.
In midweek Mardy recorded a 5-2 home win over local rivals Abergavenny Thursdays, after level-pegging 2-2 at half-time. Mardy's strikes came from Tom Copeland (2), Matthew Wham (2) and James Copeland. The Thursdays netted through Shannon Hayward and Robert Didcote.
Man of the match for Mardy was Tom Copeland. Man of the match for Thursdays was Shaun Moss.
Mardy went on to suffer a 4-1 defeat at home over PILCS on Saturday, with Gavin Morris getting the Mardy consolation goal.
On Saturday the Abergavenny Thursdays bounced back with a vengeance and won 1-6 away to Race after goals from Beau Chambers (2), Robert Didcote (2), Martin Price and Gareth Ewers.
Division Two table-toppers Prescoed had a massive 14-0 win over Llanarth 'B' with hat-tricks from Andrew Buller and Michael Taylor, a brace apiece from James Henry and Patrick Moefanno, and one apiece from John Morgan and Ohren Stewart. Llanarth's only strikes came from two own goal efforts.
On Saturday Prescoed beat fellow table-toppers Clydach 'B' 2-1 with man of the match Ohren Stewart scoring both goals. Ben Ward scored for Clydach.
Prior to the Prescoed game, Clydach secured a 2-1 victory over Pontypool Town 'B' with strikes from Andrew Bufton and Scott Ambler.
