Drivers used to free parking in Abergavenny will have to fork out for the privilege if Monmouthshire County Council pushes through planned charges.
Currently, locals who choose to park in Byefield Lane Car Park do not have to pay a fee, but council plans could see that change.
Council plans include a daily charge of £1 to be implemented at Byefield Lane, although there will be no charge in any Abergavenny car park after 4pm, according to the proposal.
Other changes include introducing parent and toddler parking spaces at Castle Street and Byefield car parks.
Blue Badge holders will have to pay in all charging car parks, but will be granted an additional hour over the tariff paid.
Further plans will see a five-day/weekly parking ticket in long-stay car parks introduced at the lower rates of £15 and £18 respectively.
The proposals are currently out for consultation and objections can be sent to Roger Hoggins, Head of Operations, PO Box 106 Caldicot NP26 9AN or alternatively by email to carparking@ monmouthshire.gov.uk
