ABERGAVENNY beats the Welsh capital of Cardiff hands down as the best place to wine and dine in the UK according to a recent article by contemporary food magazine Olive.

Abergavenny came a respectable sixth on a list of seven, with London just beating us to fifth place.

The food lover's title scored UK towns on their culinary credentials and Britain's second largest city, Birmingham, pipped Ludlow, Melton Mowbray, Edinburgh and the nation's capital to the top spot.

Our small market town was selected after punching above its weight with its "friendly welcome" and "excellent food". with Ramsbottom coming, you guessed it, bottom.
