The Priory Singers, a South Wales based choir, are performing for the first time in Abergavenny at St Mary’s Priory.

They will perform a selection of Sacred music, in celebration of Lent on Sunday, February 28.

The 24, Newport-based vocalists are led by the experienced musical director Stephen Benavente.

Stephen has an illustrious past in music, having appeared in various orchestras and solo performances as a clarinet player, and is now working in a teaching career alongside his musical directory work.

In the past twelve months alone, the Priory singers have performed a vast repertoire of music including anthems by 16th Century composers, have had a fully staged performance of Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas, a new setting of the Requiem mass by the Choir’s musical director, the annual Nine Lessons and Carols by Candlelight, and their ‘Lighter Side’ regular engagement at the Dolman Theatre.

The choir will be performing in Abergavenny at St.Mary’s Priory on Sunday, February 28, at 3pm.
