ABERGAVENNY is set to feature on the small screen yet again as a production team from Cardiff-based Bad Wolf Studios arrived in the town this week to begin filming the historical fantasy drama A Discovery of Witches.
It’s understood that the company was allowed to use the car park for hard standing for production while filming the small screen adaptation of the Deborah Harkness novel at locations including Llanvihangel Court.
A Discovery of Witches, which is part of the All Souls trilogy, features historian Diana Bishop (portrayed by Australian actress Teresa Palmer) who is descended from a long line of witches, but is determined to remain untouched by her family’s legacy.
After she discovers a manuscript in Oxford’s Bodleian Library she goes on a journey to understand its secrets. She is joined by vampire Matthew Clairmont, who will be played by Matthew Goode, who starred in Downton Abbey.
The series will be shown on Sky One and Now TV.
Bad Wolf was set up by Julie Tranter and fellow former BBC executive Jane Gardner in 2015 with support from the Welsh Government.
While at the BBC they were responsible for huge successes including Doctor Who, Torchwood and Da Vinci’s Demons, all of which were filmed in Wales.
In May they showed off their huge 250, 000 sq ft studio and office scheme at Trident Park, in Cardiff Bay.
