An important public meeting about the government's proposed Energy Bill will take place on April 1st at St. Michael's Centre Abergavenny from 7.30. 

Speakers will include David Davies, MP, Roger Williams MP and Liz Hutchins from Friends of the Earth.  Representatives from Monmouthshire County Council and Powys County Council have also been invited to speak.

 The centrepiece of the new Bill is the Green Deal.  This will provide up-front capital to households to take energy-efficiency measures, such as improved insulation, heating and lighting, with funding provided by Energy Companies. The Bill will also target households in rented accommodation, often living in fuel poverty and at risk from cold weather-related ill health, by preventing landlords letting out homes until they are improved to a minimum standard. 

 Making all our homes energy-efficient is one of the cheapest and quickest ways of slashing our carbon emissions; a win-win project that will help people and the planet.
