THREE computer-savvy pupils from Our Lady and St Michael’s Primary School, Abergavenny have won second place in the final of a DVLA Code Challenge Competition.
Hywel Lewis, Ella Gribbin and Sophia Elias won £2,000 in I.T. equipment for the school after they created the game during an after school coding club.
The DVLA, in association with Welsh police forces and other road safety organisations challenged interested pupils from all over Wales to create a game using computer coding language, SCRATCH. From a choice of five challenges, the Abergavenny pupils chose safe cycling.
The pupils attended the final in Swansea on Tuesday 28th November. The event was hosted by BBC Wales’ Lucy Owen and through a live poll schools, community centres and libraries across the country were able to vote for their favourite.
