Trinant RFC -12

Usk RFC - 7

USK began the new season with a defeat in a dour game against Trinant, where neither side appeared to gain a clear advantage.

Usk's Dickie Jenkins made a number of bulldozing runs but was unable to make the final breakthrough to release to a player in space.

Emlyn Jones also made runs from deep but again could not create the space to score. Trinant scored the only points in the first half with a try.

The second half continued in the same vein as the first, with neither side gaining any leverage.

Usk ran out of front row replacements and were forced to play with only 14 men in the second half. However, the numbers were balanced out late in the game, with Trinant having a player yellow carded. During the second half both sides scored a converted try and the game finished 12-7 to Trinant. The Usk scorer was ben Papp with John Green converting.
