DO you know someone studying tourism or theatre and the arts who could benefit from a grant of £500 this year.

If so marketing company Pear Comminucations is inviting them to apply for the first round of its new Young Person Bursary Scheme.

This year for the first time the company decided that in lieu of Christmas cards and presents, it would award four young people a small grant of £500 each, to help them with their chosen career.

Two people will be chosen from the Tourism industry and two from the Theatre and Arts industry.

Do you know of anyone studying for a qualification in tourism or the theatre and the Arts; or undergoing an apprenticeship; or doing work experience; or just deserving of a helping hand to get along in the industry?

If so, send their their name and a short description (200-500 words) of what makes them special and an asset to the relevant industries.

“We should be proud of our work and our involvement in the industry, so we will happily accept self-nominations too,” said Fed Pereira, one of the founders of the successful company.

The closing date is Tuesday, February 28 and nominations must be received by 8pm in order to qualify.

“We have asked two leading universities in their fields to choose the recipients of the bursary and grants will be given to the worthy recipients in March 2017.

“We hope this small gift will enable four young people to live a little easier for at least a month and to show that hard work and enthusiasm does get recognised,” said Per.

The recipient must be:

• Aged between 16 and 24 on March 1

• Be actively involved in the tourism industry and/or theatre and Arts

• Be legally able to study or work in the UK
