Crickhowell High School is celebrating an exceptional set of GCSE results this summer, reflecting the hard work, determination and success of its Year 11 students.

The school achieved a capped points score of 420, its highest under the current non-Covid performance measures, demonstrating strong progress and achievement across the full range of learners. This important measure reflects the school's commitment to ensuring that all pupils, from the highest attainers to those requiring additional support, make strong progress during their time at the school.

Results in the core subjects were particularly impressive, with 82.5% of learners achieving a Grade C or above in both English and Mathematics, while 80% achieved a Grade C or above in Science. In addition, a third of learners secured five or more A or A grades*, providing a strong foundation for progression into post-16 education and future careers.

Students also excelled across a broad range of subjects beyond the core curriculum. Outstanding outcomes were recorded in Expressive Arts, Technology, Humanities, Sport and Languages, with many subjects achieving over 80% A to C grades*. The breadth of these successes demonstrates the strength of the school's curriculum and the diverse talents of its learners.

An exceptional group of students achieved 11 or more A/A grades*, including Isla J, Emily C-J, Arwen M-J, Caspian C, Luke P, Gethin J, Eve P, Chloe P, Oliwia R, Cassie E, Lewis D, Bowen T and Millie O.

Headteacher Marc Yeoman praised the achievements of the cohort, saying: "I am delighted and privileged to share these outstanding GCSE results with our community. Our Year 11 students have worked incredibly hard and achieved results that they thoroughly deserve. They should be immensely proud of what they have accomplished."

Mr Yeoman also recognised the wider school community, adding: "These results are a reflection not only of our students' commitment and resilience, but also of the dedication of our staff and the unwavering support provided by parents and carers throughout the learners' educational journey."

“As a school committed to continuous improvement, Crickhowell High School views these outcomes as a significant step forward in its development. "We are an ambitious school with high expectations for all learners. Achieving our highest capped points score under the current measures is a significant milestone and reflects the progress being made across the school."

The school is also delighted that more than three-quarters of Year 11 learners have chosen to return to continue their studies in the Sixth Form, highlighting the confidence students and families have in the opportunities available at Crickhowell High School. The school continues to welcome applications for a small number of remaining places in both Year 7 and the Sixth Form.
