TOWN councillors were criticised for not helping out with a community litter pick recently.

Councillor Sam Dodd and the Keep Abergavenny Tidy team set a date to litter pick around the town to help keep the streets clean.

During the monthly Town Council meeting she told fellow members how disappointed she was at the turn out of only three fellow councillors.

Councillor Dodd said, ""The litter pick was poorly attended. For the first hour there were only five adults and two children there.

"Out of 15 town councillors there were only three at the litter pick.

"There was myself, Councillor Potts and Councillor Hickman. Councillor Edwards sent his apologies but we didn't hear from anyone else.

I just think it's really, really disappointing. Resident John Wilson stayed for the duration and walked right through Abergavenny.

If he can lend his support at 80 years of age and I can while controlling two six-year-olds we can all make an effort for the next one in early September.

"I won't be battered down - we will continue," said Councillor Dodd.
