A local town councillor felt compelled to go litter-picking over the festive season in a bid to spruce up the entrance to ‘our beautiful town’.
Despite having given up her main litter picking area around the town itself, Councillor Maureen Powell said she could not bear to see the Hardwick roundabout in such a state.
“People empty their cars with no responsibility,” she said. “This morning I picked up a purple bag of recycling and an orange bag of other rubbish.
“It is an offence to scatter litter on public places. They should take it home with them.
This is the entrance to our beautiful town. What must the visitors to Abergavenny think about the place?”
