TOP Welsh comedian Rhod Gilbert visited the haunted Abergavenny Chronicle offices to film a ghost hunt for his BBC series.

The former Never Mind the Buzzcocks frontman spent the night in the paper’s Nevill Street base where he hoped to experience some ghostly goings on.

He was lured to the historic building by a Chronicle story earlier this month about a ghost in the building.

But he nearly didn’t make it after being waylaid for more than an hour by curious members of the public wondering what he was doing in Abergavenny.

Rhod and his ghost hunting team explored the darkened upper floors of Tindle House with an array of spook hunting equipment.

The irreverent comedian admitted to feeling scared after visiting the loft.

“In the dark and with the right atmosphere, it is easy to doubt yourself.” he admitted.

Yet he remained unconvinced at the end of the ghost hunt, despite a few scares and bumps in the night.

“I don’t believe in ghosts as I have yet to see anything to convince me,” he insisted.

Joining him for the night-time vigil were Beyond the Grave, a Cwmbran-based ghost hunting group run by husband and wife team Darran and Leanne Pole.

The sixth series of Rhod Gilbert’s Work Experience, which includes the ghost hunting episode, will be screened in 2016.
