An artistic five-year-old from Llanfoist has won a festive card decoration competition.

Leading house builder Persimmon Homes ran a Christmas card competition in conjunction with Llanfoist Fawr Primary School.

All of the pupils took part, using all of their creativity to produce more than 100 colourful cards.

The winner was Alicia Kelly, who used coloured pencils to make a Christmas scene of a decorated house, a tree and a snowman.

Alicia won a Lego set for her efforts.

Sarah Foulkes, marketing co-ordinator at Persimmon Homes East Wales, said, “We had some fantastic entries and it was really tough to pick a winner.

“We loved the colour and imagination that Alicia had put into her card. We’re delighted to be able to give her this early Christmas gift.

“We are active in Llanfoist at the moment with stunning houses for sale off Merthyr Road. We take great pride in getting involved with the communities in which we work and have donated almost £20,000 to good causes across our area in 2015 alone.”

Mr Jon Murphy, headteacher at Llanfoist Fawr Primary School, said: “The children really enjoyed taking part in the competition and we were impressed with all of the fantastic entries.

“Congratulations to Alicia for emerging as the overall winner.”
