THE operators of the Wernddu Caravan Park can now have visitors staying for more than 28 days at a time following a change in a ruling by Monmouthshire planners.

The planning committee meeting at Monmouth's shire Hall were told that the proposal was to modify the condition so that caravans and tents were not bound by the 28 consecutive day restriction, as it was effectively difficult to monitor.

Phil Thomas, planning applications manager, said that by removing the condition there would be no unacceptable visual impact on the countryside having regard to landscape quality and the visibility from roads, viewpoints and other public places as there was a maximum number of units allowed on the site at any one time.

He added that caravans and tents would not be permitted on the site during the winter months between October 31 in any one year and March 1 the following year, when the natural screening provided by surrounding landscaping works would be less effective.
