A SUCCESSFUL carol service organised by Llangynidr WI was held at the local village hall in aid of Air Ambulance Wales.
On Sunday, December 14 villagers enjoyed an evening of seasonal hymns and music very ably introduced by the Rev Thomasson from Sardis UR Church. A number of readings were undertaken by representatives from all the local churches, school, WI, and guides, and the music was provided by Linda Games together with the Church music group and friends.
The primary school entertained the audience with their singing which included a wonderful rendition of "Walking in the Air".
One of the highlights of the evening was the presentation of the Queen's Guide Award to Elizabeth Hansford, a resident of the village, who had completed a number of highly demanding tasks to achieve this prestigious prize.
Representatives of Air Ambulance Wales spoke briefly on the wonderful work provided by this essential service, and following a collection were presented with £328 from the village. Mince pies and tea were provided for everyone following the service.
