'NO waiting' restrictions could be applied to part of Holywell Crescent, if Monmouthshire's cabinet approves the scheme.
Holywell Crescent is situated within a residential estate in Abergavenny and part of this is a cul de sac, which is relatively narrow. The problem has been caused by rail users parking their cars there, which is hindering emergency vehicle access and collections by refuse vehicles entering the cul de sac.
Eighteen properties are directly affected by the waiting order and of these five households support the proposals, three object and one response has been inconclusive.
Monmouthshire County Council has also taken into consideration the written support of the local elected member, Gwent Police and Abergavenny Town Council and has decided not to hold a public inquiry and proceed to approve and implement the proposed order.
The proposed order is considered to be required in the interests of road safety and to eliminate instances of obstructive parking and to provide adequate carriageway width for emergency vehicles and delivery vehicles to access all the properties.
