A popular Abergavenny wool shop is celebrating once again this year after winning Best Independent Wool Shop in Wales for the fifth year running.

The Wool Croft on Nevill Street provides quality hand knitted yarns, plus beautiful Welsh wool, embroidery, felting, cross stitch, fabrics, haberdashery and trims, kids crafts, handmade gifts and more, and is run by Ginevra Croft.

Now in it’s 14th year, the British Knitting & Crochet Awards are prized by the biggest names in the business and is hosted by Let’s Knit and Let’s Get Crafting Magazines.

Nominated from a shortlist of five retailers for Best Local Independent Yarn Store in Wales, the Wool Croft beat off competition from Yarn stores in Llandudno, Aberaeron and Penarth to scoop the award for the fifth consecutive year.

Speaking to the Chronicle following the award win, Wool Croft owner Ginevra said: “We’re so thrilled to have won this award of the Best Wool Shop in Wales, 2021. It’s all from customer votes, so that makes us especially proud that our lovely customers have taken their time to vote for us. It’s a real boost to the whole team here at The Wool Croft, to have some good news to celebrate!

“Thank you to everyone who has supported us, as we love being your local wool shop, and making Abergavenny a destination for crafters. It feels pretty special to have kept this award for the 5th year in a row.”
