Crickhowell Bridge is closed to traffic from Monday for maintenance work to be carried out, but pedestrians will still be able to use it.
The work is expected to be completed within two weeks. During that period the bridge will be closed to traffic from 9.30am to 3.30pm until Friday 4 March and diversions will be in place during the closure.
The bridge will be available outside these hours and on Sunday 27 February as no work will be carried out on this day. This is the second phase of work on the bridge, which is again being jointly funded by the council and Cadw. Phase one of maintenance work was completed in October 2010 and cost £42,000.
This latest work, which is estimated at £37,000, will include repairs to the parapet wall, replacement of defective coping stones, pointing works and installation of a new lighting system. The bridge will be closed to ensure the safety of the workforce carrying out the repairs.
