THE Wales Air Ambulance and 14 members of the Longtown mountain rescue team were called to the Sugar Loaf Mountain on Wednesday, December 28, to rescue an 11 year-old boy who was suffering from serious cuts and a probable leg fracture after tumbling and hitting a rock in deep ferns.

He had been out walking with his older sister, her fiance and another child when the accident happened. The helicopter was unable to land at the location where the boy had fallen so the mountain rescue team carried the injured boy to the helicopter. He was flown to Nevill Hall Hospital in Abergavenny.
