Residents of Llanellen have been rewarded once again for their efforts to keep their village tidy and litter-free, winning both Best Kept Small Village and Best Kept Churchyard in the annual competition run by GAVO.
The awards night was held at Chepstow Garden Centre on Friday (October 7).
The village has won ‘Best Kept’ awards on numerous previous occasions.
Secretary of the Village Hall Committee, Bonnie Russell said, “The main criterion for winning the award is the tidiness of the village - and local residents here are really good at picking up any stray piece of litter they see.
“It’s also about what the judges see at the front and back of the houses so it’s important there are no stacks of rubbish for example.
“I’d like to take the opportunity to thank all the residents of Llanellen for helping us to win this award and also Andrew Merriman for doing such a wonderful job of looking after the churchyard.”
