A post mortem examination has revealed that an 11 month old baby found dead at a flat in St David's Road, Abergavenny on Saturday, died of multiple stab wounds.The grandparents of the baby, who has been identified as Harley Ruck have released the following tribute; "In loving memory of Harley Roxy Ruck."In the event of a horrific tragedy to our beautiful, happy, loving little daughter, grand-daughter, (great granddaughter) niece and cousin who was loved dearly and will be sadly missed by all around her, especially by her lost heartbroken mum.A 22 year old woman, understood to be Harley's mother, who was arrested on suspicion of murder is currently being detained under the provisions of the Mental Health Act and is being medically assessed before being questioned by police.
Some 25 officers are still involved in the investigation with forensic teams still at the scene.
Police officers were initially called to the flat in St David's Road Abergavenny at around 5.30am on Saturday, November 20 where they carried out CPR on the 11 month old baby girl who was later pronounced dead.
A post mortem examination took place on Saturday and a 22 year old woman from the Abergavenny area was arrested on suspicion of murder.
A spokesman for Gwent Police said that no-one else was being sought in relation to the death which he described as a 'tragic incident'.
"This is a domestic incident and there is no risk to the wider community'" he said.Speaking on Sunday DCI John Williams said that inquiries were continuing and urged anyone who may have 'cruicial' information regarding the 'extremely distressing' incident to contact Gwent Police on01633 8389111.He stressed that there was no risk to the wider community but did urge anyone with information to contact the police as soon as possible.
