An Abergavenny choir will be hosting a free singing workshop session today (Saturday April 23) at Llanfoist Primary School.

Formed in 2006, Synergy are a multi-award-winning male choir led by musical director Owen McCarthy.

The choir blend the rich tones of a Male Voice Choir with the spine-tingling harmonies of 4-part a-cappella, and have performed at many prestigious events and venues throughout the UK as well as in Ireland and Germany.

With a varied repertoire from Elvis to Queen, American classics to showstoppers, touching ballads to laugh out loud barnstormers, the group provide ‘a dash of quality and fun that is uniquely Synergy’.

The group rehearse every Thursday evening from 7.30pm to 9.30pm at St Michael’s Centre, Pen-y-pound in Abergavenny but also come together for local workshops providing opportunities for youngsters to join and to reinforce learning and improve singing.

The free workshop at Llanfoist Primary School will take place between noon and 4pm, and is open to all males aged 18 and over offering the opportunity to help improve vocal technique and improve singing.

Run by two very experienced singing coaches and a supportive Music Team, the session will consist of: Vocal warms ups; Vocal techniques and exercises andlearning and rehearsing one song in four-part harmony
