AUTHOR Matt Johnson will be at the Clytha Arms tonight (Thursday, April 28) to celebrate the launch of his book The Wicked Game.

The book has already topped the charts on Amazon and is inspired by Matt’s own 25-year-long career in the Metropolitan Police Force.

The book began life as a series of notes Matt made during his treatment for Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder.

Matt explained, “I left the police in 1999 after having what I thought was a heart attack while on the way home one day.

“Luckily I was near to a surgery at the time, but the GP couldn’t find anything that led him to believe it was a heart related health problem.

“So we got chatting and he came to the conclusion that I had had a panic attack due to the stressful nature of my work with the Met.”

The author has since learned that he was experiencing symptoms of depression, after having been involved in several violent exchanges in the police force.

Matt was at the scene during the 1993 bombing of the Baltic Exchange building and found himself blown off his feet by the blast.

He was also on duty during the bombing of Regent’s Park in 1982.

You can meet Matt in person at the Clytha Arms tonight from 7.30pm onwards.
