ART created by children from local travelling communities will be on show to the public in Abergavenny to coincide with Abergavenny Arts Festival.
The exhibited works will receive a pre-festival viewing in the Mayor’s Parlour on Tuesday, June 26th at 7.00pm before a public unveiling at KT’S Coffee Shop, Brewery Yard from June 29.
The works will include paintings, tapestries and found object art all originated by the children aged between 11 and 15. Many of the exhibits will have been framed free of charge by Martin’s Framing Gallery of Baker Street.
Festival committee chairman, William P Duggan said, It is exciting to witness the creativity and diversity of our contributors, I am also most grateful for the support of local businesses for their support and in making their premises available.’
Taking place between June 29 and July 1, the Festival will showcase local amateur and professional artists as well as featuring talent from around the world.
There are 150 events planned across 40 venues including talks from Ben Okri OBE, an exhibition of the work of print maker and painter Rosemary Clunie, demonstrations by potter Walter Keeler and a performance of Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
Music will be provided by a range of musicians including Sicknote Steve in a tribute to American blues musician, Seasick Steve), The Gwent Bach Choir, Synergy, The Liverpool Signing Choir, Cwmbran Deaf Choir and DJ sets across the weekend.
