The National Assembly for Wales joined millions across Europe in observing a minute silence this morning, following the events in Paris on Friday.
Assembly Members, staff and visitors were invited to gather in the Senedd to pay their respects.
Presiding Officer of the Assembly, Dame Rosemary Butler AM said, “The horrific events in Paris last week have shocked the world.
“But the response from citizens who are determined not to let evil forces splinter our society has been inspirational.
“We will remember those who have died, and also show our belief in an open and inclusive world is undiminished.”
Monmouthshire County Council staff at the Abergavenny’s town hall, where the flags were flying at half mast, also observed the silence as did staff at other businesses across the town.
