RESIDENTS are being plagued by anti social behaviour and 'boy racers' congregating in a nearby underpass.

The underpass, in Llanfoist is just 100 yards from residential homes and one woman, who wished not to be named, said she can hear loud music, revved engines and leaving rubbish strewn across the area.

She said, "They seem to be using the tunnel as an acoustic station. We have reported it to the police and to the Community Council of Llanfoist."

Some residents have also discovered needles, tablet foils and beer cans in the under pass. Some have reportedly seen people sleeping in their cars in the tunnel in the early hours of the morning.

A spokeswoman from Gwent Police said, "Towards the end of last year there was an issue with people driving in an anti social manner in the Fairfield car park area. After which the Community Safety Partnership took action to resolve the problem.

"The partnership is now aware there's an issue in other areas and is now looking at them following the successful action taken. Police have not received any calls reporting the needles in the tunnel. If anyone is concerned they are encouraged to contact us."
