On Saturday evening (April 2) just after 7pm Gwent Police received reports about the safety of an individual on the westbound carriageway of the A40 near Raglan.

The decision was taken at 7.15pm to close the road and set up diversions while an air ambulance attended the scene, close to a road bridge at The Bryn.

A man was subsequently airlifted to Morriston Hospital in a critical but stable condition.

The dual carriageway was re-opened at around 8.40pm.
