WORKS causing problems for traders in Abergavenny will now be investigated.
National Assembly Member for Monmouth, Nick Ramsay, has received a response from South Wales Trunk Road Agency having contacted the Agency following his visit to local businesses on Monk Street last week.
Several businesses in Monk Street reported being adversely affected by the barriers and traffic lights in place on the A40 which have already been in place for many weeks and are affecting their trade.
"The Agency's Network Manager has confirmed he is investigating the restriction of access to local businesses and the adequacy of signage near the temporary traffic lights,"said Mr Ramsay
"He is also looking into the likely duration of the works on the property in Monk Street which has required a skip to be placed on the A40 while extensive repairs are carried out on the building. The Agency will be providing a full report as soon as possible.
The AM said, " I was very pleased to receive a prompt response from SWTRA, and hope they will investigate the problems which have been reported without delay.
"Hopefully, the current situation can be improved for the local businesses people.
"I have every sympathy for them and their current difficulties with the combined effect of the recession and the adjacent building work and traffic problems. I am keeping them informed as I receive further information."
