and also the army of Mums and Dads led by Julia Jones who kept everyone fed and watered throughout the week, raising more funds towards the club's floodlight project.

The tournament marked the end of a summer season in which many Abergavenny juniors have hit the competitive circuit of tennis events throughout the UK hard this summer holidays, putting their skills to the test against some of the best players in the country.

The strength of the coaching programme was highlighted by the distances some needed to travel to including Swansea, Almondsbury, Solihull, Bath, Bristol, Torquay, Plymouth, Nailsea and Malvern.

Some very impressive results from club members included:

Oliver Stansfield finishing in the top three at several Grade three events.

Herbie McKenna-Morgan who won the Hereford & Worcestershire County Closed Championship.

Dan Taylor, a plate finalist at the Hereford Open.

Tom Davies, finalist at the Almondsbury Open.

After a summer of hard-work from the coaching team, Head Coach Robert Wedlake was delighted with the club's efforts.

"Our junior tournament is always great fun and it was pleasing to see so many new faces this year, especially in the younger age-groups where we are having a lot of success. This strength in depth can only help to enhance our reputation in Welsh Tennis where we have many tournament players progressing through the ranks.

"At 12&U level we were the second best-represented club in Wales at the Welsh Junior Championships and to have a County Champion such as Herbie coming through certainly bodes well for the future of the club."
