As the country mourns the passing of NHS hero and war veteran Captain Sir Tom Moore, Abergavenny is proud to have a permanent tribute to him.
Local newsagent Paul Cable is also an artist and last year painted this tribute to Sir Tom on the occasion of his 100th birthday.
The portrait can be seen on the wall in Frogmore Street, opposite Paul’s shop alongside another of Paul’s portraits - of veteran singer, the late Vera Lynn, who died in June last year..
Captain Sir Tom raised more than £30 million for the NHS by completing circuits of his garden on his walking frame.
He died in hospital yesterday. He had been suffering from pneumonia but then caught coronavirus.
Tributes have been pouring in on social media from around the world.
