AFTER months of delay, supermarket giant Morrisons has confirmed that work has begun on the the cattle market site in Abergavenny and that the town’s new store should opens its doors early next year.
The new store will include the retailer’s popular Market Street where customers can see a team of skilled bakers and fishmongers hand make foods fresh each day.
In addition, the store will include the recently launched Nutmeg womenswear collection alongside the long established children’s clothing range.
The former cattle market site is set to create over 100 new jobs, and Morrisons will begin to recruit its team of talented food-makers and shopkeepers later this year.
After repeated pressure from The Abergavenny Chronicle, a Morrisons spokeswoman said the long-awaited store is 'on track'.
“Morrisons Abergavenny will offer great value fresh foods hand made in store and will also employ over 100 people so we’re very pleased to reach this exciting milestone. We’re now looking forward to the site taking shape over the next few months.”
It’s expected that the Abergavenny store will open early 2018.
