Abergavenny Women’s Football Club have vowed to fight on after the devastating news on Monday that the team will not be in the top tier of the new Football Association of Wales (FAW) league structure.

The Chronicle first revealed the shocking news in our front page last week (May 26).

Football clubs across Wales have come out in support of Abergavenny questioning the methods used by the FAW to choose the eight teams in Tier 1.

And Monmouthshire MP David Davies and Assembly member Peter Fox have both made representations to the FAW asking why the team had been left out of the top tier.

Abergavenny released a statement on Monday after the FAW decision was made public.

See today’s paper for the full statements and reaction to the decision.
