The National Eisteddfod is the most significant annual festival in Wales to celebrate the country's culture and language and Monmouthshire is delighted to be able to host the event again, for the first time since 1913. The council has also recommended that members agree to fund the one off resources needed to support hosting the Eisteddfod, totalling an estimated £580k, from the priority investment reserve. Despite this, the council is safely assured that costs will be minimum and the return will be maximised by the expenditure of visitors. For more details see this week's edition of the Chronicle
