FOLLOWING on the heels of being unexpectedly kicked out of the second round of the SWALEC Bowl by Division Five East side Abercarn, the claret and ambers are to be reinstated into the competition and are set to play Usk at home this Saturday.
Abergavenny's surprise return to a competition they thought was done and dusted comes after Abercarn were reported to the WRU for breaching match rules, and failing to provide cover for the tighthead position in their recent clash with the Bailey Park boys.
During the game Abercarn's tighthead Prop was injured and left the field after only two minutes. Abercarn then insisted they did not have cover for the position despite having front row players on the bench.
The remainder of the game was played with uncontested scrums which disadvantaged Abergavenny. Consequently the WRU have reinstated Abergavenny with Abercarn having to forfeit the tie.
As a result Abergavenny play Usk away this Saturday in the SWALEC Bowl third round with a 2.30pm kick-off.
A Victory will see them through to the quarter finals and only two further games away from a possible Millennium Stadium Final.
Consequently Abergavenny's scheduled Division Two East game away to Llantrisant has been postponed and will be rescheduled for a later date.
