The A465 Heads of the Valleys road will be closed between Gilwern and Brynmawr from 8.30pm on Friday (July 15) to 6am on Monday (July 18).

During the closure construction company Costain will be working at high level above the carriageway in the Gorge in preparation for excavation and removal of rock, the existing rock face netting, boulders and tree stumps between Pont Harri and Nany yr Hafod.

During the course of the closures full access will be maintained through the site for emergency services vehicles, which will be escorted by the traffic management team.

There will also be controlled access across the closure at the Saleyard and Gilwern junctions. A minibus service will replace the Stagecoach Service 3 on Saturday.

The Glanbaiden roundabout will be fully open, with traffic from Abergavenny being able to use the roundabout to access Gilwern.
